The highly anticipated event will be held from Friday March 22 until Sunday March 24 and will display aircraft from Deniliquin’s rich history.
The Wirraway was commonly used for training pilots in the Second World War when the Deniliquin Airport was the No. 7 SFTS Flying Training School for the Royal Australian Air Force between 1941 and 1948.
Guests will be able to read more about the airport’s history at the fly-in with the new interpretative panels which have been installed at the passenger terminal, showcasing the lives and stories of the local community associated with this period.
On the Saturday night the popular hangar dinner event will include the presence of the Wirraway aircraft and memorabilia from the flying school.
Highlight of the dinner is guest speaker Peter Wyatt, who has been a part of the RAAF for more than 30 years.
Mr Wyatt will be speaking on the Empire Service Training Scheme which was the scheme No. 7 Service Flying Training School fell under and how that was used in the Riverina to train pilots for World War II.
Two Pitt specials will fly in from Moama to entertain crowds with their aerobatic displays.
They are flown by The Screaming Diamonds Formation Aerobatic Team which consists of Michael Jones and Adrian Vandersluys.
The team flies all around Australia for air shows.
Yakovlev aircraft will fly in for the weekend to display thrilling formation flying along with several model aircraft.
Field Air will be presenting a spray based planes demonstration on rice spraying along with a fire bombing demonstration at the airport.
Sing Australia, Edward River Band and Vintage Cars can also be expected at the event.
