An anonymous stranger passing through Deniliquin only a little time ago was distributing envelopes containing a pamphlet recounting Arthur Stace’s story and why he took on that challenge.
Many people have the idea that the life which we live on this Earth is the total of our existence.
The Bible reminds us that God has given us time to live not only now but also into eternity at the end of this earthly life.
We are also reminded that by accepting or rejecting Jesus’ offer of being set free from the bondage of sin will not only affect the quality of the life we live now, but also decide where we spend eternity.
For Arthur Stace, the person handing out those envelopes, and for millions of Christian believers, like myself, that ‘‘new life’’ promised by faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, also gives an assurance of an eternity spent in Heaven.
The last book in the Bible — Revelation — gives us the picture revealed by Jesus to the apostle John.
That picture is an unfolding of God’s perfect future for those who believe and trust in Him.
The whole story of the Bible assures us that God’s perfect future of a ‘‘new life’’ starts by putting our trust in Jesus now.
