Blighty were competitive against a strong club in Katandra, and were able to get wins in the fourths football and the under-15s and under-13s netball.
This week, the Redeyes can expect some tighter games on the netball courts.
While not the ladder-leaders like last week’s opponents, the footballers will still have some challenging matches against Strathmerton.
It is also expected to be a big home game, with the club’s $10,000 draw taking place from 6.30pm at the club facilities following tomorrow's fixtures.
The senior footballers will have another tough task after facing the only remaining undefeated side in the competition last week.
Redeyes coach Dane Leyden said despite the 103 point loss, it was a positive sign against the top of the ladder team.
“We thought Katandra were skilled and well drilled.
“They were hard to stop from scoring, we lost a few to injuries on the day, so I approved of our fight for what we had available.
“We also executed some things we had been working on at training, which is always good.”
Blighty’s opponents tomorrow are third on the ladder, with only two losses for the season so far in the seniors.
Leyden said his team is preparing for another challenge against the Bulldogs based on their results.
“Strathmerton look like a higher tier side than previous, this year.
“We expect them to be a good challenge.
Jai Park congratulates Jack Charlton on his goal.
“We know we can compete if we bring our best, and we need to do it for the full four quarters.”
While this weekend is not an easy fixture, Leyden said the team is building ahead of more opportunities after the league bye next week.
“We do have a few outs unfortunately, but this will allow a few to get a chance from the reserves.
“We are looking forward to the bye to reset and hopefully get some wins off the back.
“The team’s well aware it’s our best stretch, so we hope we can prepare as best as possible.”
