Mulwala’s football season came to an end last Saturday when the Lions went down by 11-points to Cobram in the preliminary final.
Cobram won 10.13:73 to 9.8:62.
Mulwala spearhead Charlie McKenna played a wonderful game, booting seven goals to be judged best on the ground by many observers.
Other players who played well for Mulwala included defender Nathan McNair, centre-half back Connor Devereux, ruckman Owen Conway and midfielder Oscar Elliot.
Although trailing 7.9 to 4.1 at the long break, the Lions kept Cobram to just two behinds in the third quarter by scoring 2.3 themselves, to be down by seven points at the last break.
In the final quarter, Mulwala had its chances but missed a couple of shots for goal.
Both sides added three goals in that last quarter.

The Under 13’s came out strong with fantastic drives and great ball movement down the court.
Accurate shooting from Rhi and Summer kept the scoreboard ticking over, while Nancy, Macy and Scarlett applied relentless defensive pressure.
Under 13 netballer Sianna Gallagher provided strong drives in the midcourt.

Remi and Mila in wing defence made it tough to bring the ball into attack, and strong drives in the mid court from Siena, Paige and Layla kept the team moving forward.
