The “passionate team” of volunteers was elected last week, and is ready to lead the association into an exciting new chapter.
Leading the committee is president Sarah Campbell, who expressed her gratitude to the outgoing committee members for their commitment and service to the association.
“On behalf of the new committee, I would like to sincerely thank our outgoing committee members for the countless hours they have dedicated to Deniliquin netball,”she said.
“Their hard work has provided a strong foundation for us to build upon, and we are incredibly grateful for their contribution to our sport and our community.”
Campbell said the incoming committee is enthusiastic about the future and committed to continuing to grow netball across the Deniliquin region.
Other executive members include Eliza Eastman as vice president, Jaimie Miliken as secretary, Carissa Taylor as treasurer and Gayle Menadue as registrar.
“We have a fantastic group of volunteers who are excited to take on their new roles,” she said.
“We're looking forward to working together to create positive opportunities for players, coaches, umpires and families while continuing to foster a welcoming and inclusive netball community.”
One of the committee's first initiatives will be the introduction of a new short-form spring competition, commencing in October.
The competition will provide players with an opportunity to continue developing their skills, while also offering an important pathway for representative netballers preparing for higher-level competitions.
Looking beyond the spring competition, the committee has identified several key priorities for the coming year.
A major focus will be strengthening grassroots junior netball by ensuring young players develop strong fundamental skills in a fun and supportive environment.
The association also plans to expand opportunities for supported game play, allowing developing players to build confidence while applying their skills in match situations.
Another important priority will be the continued development of junior umpires, with a focus on practical, on-court application of the rules and ongoing mentoring to help build confidence and capability.
“Strong foundations are essential for the future of our sport,” Campbell said.
“By investing in our youngest players and developing confident, knowledgeable umpires, we're helping ensure netball continues to thrive in Deniliquin for many years to come.”
