The Murray League visitors proved too strong as the game wore on.
Kicking with the breeze early, the Rams weren’t able to fully capitalise on their opportunities, leaving the door ajar for Numurkah.
To their credit, the boys lifted in the second term, digging in around the contest and fighting back to ensure they went into the main break still well and truly in the game.
After halftime, however, Numurkah’s bigger bodies began to take control.
They asserted themselves at the stoppages and around the ground, gradually wearing the Rams down and converting their chances to pull away for a solid win.
There were still positives to take out of the contest.
It was great to see Cable Fitzpatrick return after a knee reconstruction, showing plenty of intent.
Will Henderson gets the handball off to Jake Herberte.
Will Henderson and Matt McDonald battled hard through the midfield all day, while young Noah Bradley added another string to his bow with a disciplined tagging role.
One of the highlights came just before halftime.
Aydan 'Snowy' Matthews produced a burst down the wing in a Chris Judd-like moment that would have been a true highlight if he’d only been able to break the final tackle.
While the result didn’t go their way, the Rams showed patches of resilience and effort that they’ll look to build on heading into next week.
