Another warm day saw us take the court, and we were slow to start as Barooga came out firing.
We knew we needed to adjust quickly and settle into our own style of play.
Nat Sampson and Chrissy Hurst were outstanding in the defensive circle, applying relentless pressure on the goalers and creating numerous turnovers.
Their ability to continually adapt and make precise decisions resulted in multiple gains for our team.
Ruby Pisasale also delivered a dominant defensive performance, applying strong pressure to her opponents and securing several intercepts.
Through the midcourt, Hazel Glowrey continues to show consistency, taking strong contested balls and implementing effective court structures. She used her speed to great advantage, delivering numerous goal assists and creating opportunities for our shooters.
Abbey Wills and Ruby Cowley faced a tough and physical contest in the goal circle but didn’t let it faze them. They maintained confidence under pressure, shooting accurately and working cohesively with great agility.
A special mention to Jorja Woolston, an under-15s player, who made her A-grade debut. She stepped up and executed her role exactly as asked, handling the pressure exceptionally well, an impressive effort and a credit to her.
Amelie Bulmer and Bae Willis also took the court, showing strong drives and excellent court awareness, consistently outworking their opposition.

B-grade: Deni Rovers 44 def Barooga 39.
Despite challenging circumstances with low player numbers, the team delivered a great four quarter performance and were able to withstand Barooga’s pressure to come away with the win.
Our defensive unit was a clear highlight of the game, applying relentless pressure across the court.
Their ability to read the play, get plenty of deflections and force turnovers set the tone early and created countless opportunities for our attackers.
An exciting development was the return of Tlarnee Lake who worked beautifully with Sam Hughes in the shooting circle throughout the day. Their timing, communication and movement in the circle were exceptional, allowing them to convert opportunities efficiently and keep the scoreboard ticking over.
A special mention must go to our C-grade and junior players, who stepped up with confidence and slotted into the lineup seamlessly. They played crucial roles in every third and maintained structure and composure throughout the match.

C-grade: Deni Rovers 37 def Barooga 27.
Barooga tested the team right across the court, but we met every challenge with great composure and determination.
Pressure was applied to every ball, creating valuable turnovers and giving our attackers plenty of opportunities.
The team showed some fantastic flow from defence through to attack, moving the ball with patience and confidence.

C-Reserve: Deni Rovers 17 def by Barooga 26.
Barooga’s defensive effort forced our girls to work hard from the first whistle, making it challenging to settle into our usual flow early in the game.
It took some time to find our footing, but a strong final quarter demonstrated what the group is capable of when everything starts to click.
Unfortunately, the momentum came a little too late to fully close the gap.
The teamwork and attitude remained strong right until the final whistle.

Under-17s: Deni Rovers 71 def Barooga 24.
A dominant performance this week from our under-17s, coming away with a convincing win over Barooga.
The girls set the tone early with strong defensive pressure and carried that intensity right through the game.
Our transitions down the court were smooth and controlled, allowing us to capitalise on scoring opportunities and build momentum each quarter.
It was great to see continued improvement in our combinations, with players working confidently together and executing some really impressive passages of play.
A fantastic team effort and another great step forward for the group.

Under-15s: Deni Rovers 30 def Barooga 16.
The physical pressure was on early, but the girls rose to the challenge, showing great composure and control right across the court.
With a few positional changes due to injury, they adapted quickly and never stopped working, sticking to our structures and fighting hard to maintain possession.
We created plenty of opportunities with strong gains all over the court. While we didn’t always capitalise, it’s a great area for us to build on at training this week.
There were some standout positives, sharp front cuts, relentless hands-over pressure and most importantly an incredible team-first attitude.

Under-13s: Deni Rovers 37 def Barooga 11.
With a clear focus at both training and on game day, the girls came out strong, taking an 11-3 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Their effort and sustained pressure saw them extend this to an impressive 21-3 at half time, carrying that momentum into the second half.
Rotating players across the court allowed the team to maintain a high intensity, while their flexibility and awareness supported smooth transitions between combinations.
With a strong emphasis on communication and timing, the girls continue to grow in their understanding of individual roles, contributing to excellent team cohesion and flow.

The girls delivered a consistent performance across all six stanzas from the starting whistle.
They showed strong defence and used pinpoint passing through the midcourt and defensive end.
Their goal shooting accuracy was also very strong today.
