Moama will provide a quality contest across the board, with a top five side in every netball and football grade outside the senior football.
It will also be an enjoyable weekend on the sidelines with the Rams’ Ladies Day at Hardinge St Oval from 1.30pm, supporting Can Assist Deniliquin, before the Rams’ Charity Golf Day at the Deniliquin Golf Club on Sunday.
In the senior football clash, it is poised to be a close encounter.
Moama are ninth on the ladder.
They won their first match of the season against Echuca United by 12 points, but have since lost their last four games to top five sides in Congupna, Tongala, Nathalia and Cobram.
The Rams are in seventh with three wins against Echuca United, Finley and Rumbalara, and three losses against Nathalia, Numurkah and Tongala.
Senior coach John Fitzpatrick said the team will be aiming to regroup from their loss to Tongala last week.
“I was a bit disappointed. Overall, we just didn’t put up a good effort.
“They had some big hard bodies, and we missed a fair few tackles whereas they stuck theirs.
“Overall, it was a bit of everything. Our backs were all right, and our mids tried their best in the centre, but we didn’t really manage to get it effectively to our forwards, and it was ultimately a hard game.”
Fitzpatrick said his team will look forward to their chances against Moama.
“They’re probably around us, I reckon, so we’ll want to have a real crack at this one.
“Especially because the last few games have been so disappointing, including last week.
“So hopefully, being at home with Ladies Day, we can give the locals something to cheer about.”
The Rams’ selection calls this week will be centred on how they can best position themselves against an even but tough Moama side, who will also be hungry to win tomorrow.
“There are no big ins or outs for us this week, but we do have a few niggling injuries.
“We will only see how they turn out after training (Thursday night after the Pastoral Times went to print) and will make the final call on selection.
“It will be a tough match.
“They’ve got a bit of youth like us, but those guys are probably still a little bit more experienced than we are.
“It will be a good clash.”
