In Jerilderie for round three of the Murray Valley Cricket Association, Brodie Unwin again won the toss with the side electing to bat on a sunny day with slight cloud cover.
Openers Brendan Unwin and Jonty Tubb started the game very well.
They raced to 81 off the first 10 overs seeing off the good balls and dispatching anything else from the opening Jerilderie bowlers.
Brendan did most of the damage with the bat, getting a half century and looking to go on with it before injuring his hamstring.
While it affected running between the wickets the pair pushed on to drinks reaching 0/93 after 15 overs.
Returning after drinks for an over, Brendan was unable to add anything to his total.
Going for it, he was caught out at mid-off for a well made 71 off 58 balls.
This brought Rhinos round one top-scorer Stephen Marshall to bat.
His partner Tubb was out in the 18th over for 26 caught at mid-on after getting the team off to a good start.
Stephen was out first ball of the next over bowled hitting across the line without scoring.
The Rhinos were now 3/105.
Senaka Lakmal and Bill Hodgetts were next up to the crease, both steadying the ship.
The pair got the Rhinos to 132 at the start of the 25th over before Hodgetts was out, caught by the wicket-keeper down the leg side for seven.
Lakmal was then joined by Noah Bradley on his return from overseas adding a handy 17 before being bowled.
After 32 overs the side were 5/163.
From there Lakmal continued his good stint with the bat reaching 47 off 57 balls including three sixes.
He was caught out with three overs to go in the innings with the Rhinos on 6/200.
From there the established batter Lachlan Marshall led the way finishing on 15 not out with a six over mid wicket a highlight.
Other batters Rowan Frazer and Prem Muppidi were both out for two caught by the wicket-keeper while Jobe Unwin finished on 0 not out facing the last ball of the innings.
The Rhinos set a total of 8/209 from their 40 overs.
In reply, Jerilderie also started well.
Getting to the sixth over the home side were 0/24 before Muppidi had opener Brad Aylett caught behind by Jonty Tubb for 12.
From there, other opening bowler Brodie was into the wickets getting Logan Eldridge for 17 with a well hit edge caught by Lachlan Marshall at slip.
Unwin also had Evan Lawton caught by Frazer at cow corner off his chest and David Hercus caught cleanly at mid-off by Stephen Marshall.
Archie Beehag was then into the attack and struck in each of his first two overs including from a great overhead catch from Jobe Unwin and an LBW.
Just after the 15 over drinks break Jerilderie were 6/61.
From there Lakmal got an LBW in the 23rd over, Jobe Unwin had Cameron Arnold out for 15 caught by Lachlan Marshall, Noah Bradley had a wicket with his second ball caught behind by Tubb.
Stephen Marshall finished the game by removing the junior batter bowled who’d done well at the crease.
The Rhinos had Jerilderie all out for 91 from 27.4 overs to win by 118 runs.
