Volunteers at the club have been putting in countless hours to ensure the course is in top condition for a huge weekend of action, including ambrose and pairs competitions.
The Seymour Club has generously pitched in to support the SGC with its extensive maintenance requirements, funding an upgrade to the course’s watering system and associated improvements to landscaping.
The funding provided by the Seymour Club will result in a more consistent, playable course and will support the workload of volunteers who maintain the full 18 holes.
Seymour Golf Club president Matt O’Sullivan thanked the Seymour Club and its board for the much-needed investment.
“The Seymour Golf Club is a wonderful community asset to be enjoyed by members and social golfers from the Seymour and surrounding district,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“Our volunteers are amazing, a fantastic group of community-minded people that dedicate their time and effort to make sure Seymour has a golf course that all can come along and play.
“The Seymour Club has put a significant investment forward to allow us to upgrade some of our dated infrastructure, including our watering system, which is crucial to the health of our course.
“Without the support of great local businesses, our greens and fairways simply wouldn’t be the same, and we’re incredibly thankful for the Seymour Club’s donation.
“We’re eager to welcome keen golfers from across the region to enjoy our course and the Eastern Tournament at the end of this month.”
Seymour Club operations manager Orry Wiggett said the club was looking forward to ongoing improvements at the SGC.
“We’re really pleased to support the Seymour Golf Club and their volunteers who have a mammoth job maintaining the course,” Mr Wiggett said.
“We’re hopeful this donation will take some workload off members and make the watering system more efficient well into the future.
“The Easter Tournament is a great advertisement for the town and golf across the region, and we encourage golfers of all abilities to join in the fun.”
