Will Salzmann and Sienna Eve from Sydney Thunder were in Deniliquin last week for a special junior cricket clinic at Memorial Park Oval, inspiring the next generation of local players.

The free after‑school session, part of Cricket NSW’s Country Blitz outreach program, drew 34 enthusiastic primary school aged children for a mix of drill work, fun games and a Q&A.
Salzmann, a NSW all-rounder, stepped in to share his experience at the elite level after NSW captain Kurtis Patterson was called up for the Australia A-team taking on Bangladesh.
Eve said she enjoyed the opportunity to connect with regional players.
“I love doing things like this. Often we go to places I’ve never been before,” she said.
“Introducing the game to younger kids and giving them some skills is really beneficial.”
Eve said she was particularly thrilled with the interest shown by girls at the Deniliquin session.
“I know I had many mentors throughout my journey, so being able to be that person to others is terrific.”
Local cricket stalwart Wayne Bradley said the visit was a boost for the community.
“How amazing it is to have these players come all the way to Deni?” he said.
“Hopefully, we’re able to get a few more kids involved in the game.
“We’ve had great support from the Thunder over the years; they’ve been pretty generous, especially when you think how far Sydney is.”
The clinic also gave children the chance to see the Dean Jones Trophy, recently won by NSW, and to show off local facilities while learning new skills.
Cricket NSW said the visit aimed to inspire young players and strengthen grassroots participation across the Riverina.
