Ladder leaders Mitre 10 continued their dominance winning 25 sets and 170 games against Deni Newsagency six sets 103 games, and Peppin Planners also had a big win.
Certainly the courts were soft and the bounce low and slow but some players were slow to adapt to these different conditions.
The result was many returns were into the net, especially off half volleys. The slow pace seemed to affect players’ clean volleys and proved frustrating through the evening.
Despite this, the twilight was as pleasant as it can be and there was a lack of the wind from last week.
In their big victory, Mitre 10 had seven three set winners with Laura Campbell, Nick Schultz, Steve Todd, Peter McDonald, Nick Wood, Jack Eastman and Andrew Ritchie not losing a set.
Peppin were equally impressive last week against Legal Eagles winning 24 sets and 164 games while Legal Eagles won only seven sets 104 games.
For Peppin three ladies won three sets, being Sandra Campbell, Ruby Hicks and captain Bella Galbraith.
Six men won their three sets - Hugo McGrillen, Hamish Catt, Mick Farley, Darcy Pogue, Ben Milliken and Graeme Murphy.
This week Mitre 10 will line up against second placed Peppin Planners and that will be an exciting match. The two teams badly defeated last week will also match up on Wednesday.
