A special recognition was made to passionate ski club member Harold Stanley for his contribution to water skiing at the Mulwala Water Ski Club last Wednesday.
Mulwala Water Ski Club CEO Peter Duncan said Harold made a great contribution to water skiing and the club over many years, volunteering and participating in skiing and at his best playing pool.
“Harold was also instrumental in developing both the boat ramps at the ski club and the ski park,” Mr Duncan said
“He was a real character and he enjoyed skiing and took a real keen interest in it.
“I recall him saying that when he had organised to put the boat ramp in at the ski park it was a 40-degree day and he was the only one that turned up,” Mr Duncan said.
Mr Duncan said Harold was so passionate about the club he donated $5,000 to go towards acknowledging young achievers before he passed way over 20 years ago.
Mr Duncan said the money somehow got mixed up and the club wanted to make it right and recognise this contribution by making the money available to the ski club team again along with the compound interest that would have accrued during that time which would now total $17,500.
And to further recognise Harold Stanley’s contribution to water skiing the club also named the new judge’s tower building in honour of him.
“If Harold was around today to see what has been done out here, he would be rapt,” Mr Duncan said.
