Speaking to the Pastoral Times about 7.30pm, Deniliquin Police officer in charge Detective Inspector Jy Brown said police had originally gone to the home to follow up a breach of bail incident.
He has refuted rumours of a firearm being discharged during the incident, and anyone being injured.
"The man was arrested without incident just before 5pm, with assistance from a tactical response unit and police negotiators," Det Insp Brown said.
"He was charged with numerous offences and refused bail to appear in court tomorrow (Saturday).
"I can confirm no shots were fired and no one - police, civilians or others - were injured. I can also confirm there was no hostage situation."
Det Insp Brown could only confirm this evening the man has been charged with breaching bail conditions.
Other potential charges are subject to the findings of an ongoing investigation.
