It was great to see many locals taking advantage of a free health check over the weekend with the Rotary Men’s Health Education Rural Van visiting Deniliquin and Mathoura from Friday to Sunday.
The custom built caravan with a dedicated registered nurse offers free health screenings to regional and rural men, who are notorious for being in the dark about the state of their health.
A total of 57 individuals underwent the health check, including 10 women.
Twenty of those were advised to make an appointment with their General Practitioner, 34 were advised to see their GP as soon as possible and three were advised to see their GP immediately.
Rotarian Lesley Hills — who assisted at the van — said even if it helped just one person, it was worth offering the service.
‘‘It was a great two days in Deniliquin, especially seeing so many people take advantage of this free service,’’ she said.
‘‘It is so important to check your health and hopefully we have made these people aware of any issues they may need to seek help with or let others know they are completely healthy.’’
