Jade was performing at the Echuca Workers and Services Club, and according to those who went was “thoroughly entertaining”.
While there simply to enjoy the entertainment, the local crew also had a surprise for Jade.
They arrived with a birthday cake made by Wilma Gorrie, and presented it to the singer to mark his upcoming 80th birthday.
“It was a wonderful, fun catch up,” Yvonne Lloyd said on behalf of the group.
“Jade was so surprised when he was presented with an 80th card and a magnificent cake.
“An amazing day.”
The locals also took a few of their Jade Hurley keepsakes to the performance to have them signed, including Yvonne’s copy of Jade’s 1984 album Great Balls of Fire - on which he covered 24 classic rock hits.
Still with the original price tag of $9.99 attached, Yvonne said another fan offered to buy it from her for $100.
She refused to part with the treasured item, but joked it’s now worth much more with Jade’s signature.
