On behalf of the community, Ian ‘China’ Gibson has urged for people with batteries of any size to drop them off on the pallet in front of the shed.
Otherwise, you can arrange pick up by calling 0447 541 200.
“If you have a large quantity, they would appreciate them on a pallet to make transfer easier,” China said.
“A tractor battery will buy around 40 cod or well over 50 yellowbelly with the very generous 2 for 1 deal off the NSW Fisheries.
“Even a lawn mower battery will buy a few fish.
“Nothing is too big or too small.”

Holiday fun continues
Edward River Library has been keeping local kids busy these school holidays, and a full second week of activities is on the cards.
Monday’s activity will be lucky‑dip craft bags, and virtual reality fun returns on Tuesday.
On Wednesday there is a mini comics and ‘zines workshop from 2pm, and on Thursday it’s a loom‑band activity.
To finish the week, the popular Splat! sessions return on Friday and Saturday.
Bookings are required for Splat!, and families are encouraged to secure their place early.
For details or to reserve a spot at any of the activities, phone 5898 3100 or email library@edwardriver.nsw.gov.au.
‘Kangaroo’ hops in for week two
The first screening in Edward River Council’s Winter Movie Series proved a hit, with a strong crowd turning out at Deniliquin Town Hall on Tuesday for Dog Man.
Families packed the hall for the free school‑holiday session, enjoying the DreamWorks animated adventure about the half‑dog, half‑man cop.
The second instalment of the series screens Tuesday, July 14, with Kangaroo (PG) showing from 4.30pm.
The Australian family comedy follows former TV host Chris Masterman and a spirited Indigenous girl as they rescue and rehabilitate orphaned joeys in the Outback.
Entry is free, no bookings are required, and hot drinks will be available for purchase. Families are welcome to bring their own snacks.
Fire false alarm
Fire truck sirens echoed through the Deniliquin CBD on Wednesday afternoon, as our volunteers headed out on another call.
Fortunately, the firefighters arrived to discover they were not actually needed.
The call was to a yard fire at a central Deniliquin home.
One truck responded, and firefighters found sticks burning following a barbecue.
No further action was needed.
State of Origin victory
A lot of Deni locals should be pleased after the NSW Blues were able to rally together and get an upset win in the heart of Queensland.
The decider ended 30-12 on Wednesday night, with Nathan Cleary walking away with the Wally Lewis medal, and becoming the Blue's all-time highest point scorer.
Although there are a few Queensland ring-ins around town, and a few New South Welshman who have turned their back on the state, hopefully Deniliquin is still in a jovial mood.
