National Volunteer Week is a time to pause, say thank you and celebrate the people who keep communities like ours strong.

To every volunteer in Deniliquin and district – in emergency services, sport, schools, churches, health, aged care, arts, service clubs, committees and neighbour-to-neighbour kindness – congratulations.
Much of what makes our community safe, generous and connected happens because someone quietly decides to show up.
At the Rotary Club of Deniliquin, we are proud to be part of that wider volunteering family.
For 75 years, local Rotarians have put ‘Service Above Self’ into action through projects that support youth, wellbeing, community events, sustainability and those doing it tough.
From the Easter Art Show and the Deniliquin Time Capsule to our support for local, national and international causes, every sausage sizzle, working bee and fundraiser has a purpose: turning local effort into lasting good.
Rotary is local, but it is also global. By joining a club, volunteers become part of a worldwide network of people of action – 1.2 million members across more than 200 countries – working together on clean water, peacebuilding, health, education, the environment and the long campaign to end polio.
This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is ‘Your Year to Volunteer’. That message matters.
Volunteering does not have to mean saying yes to everything. It can mean helping at one event, lending a skill, joining a project, becoming a Friend of Rotary, or stepping into membership when the time is right.
Rotary is changing too. We know people are busy.
What we offer is purpose, friendship, practical action and a way to make a difference alongside others who care about Deniliquin.
So this Volunteer Week, we thank every volunteer and organisation helping our district thrive. And to anyone wondering where they might fit: come and meet us.
Visitors are welcome at the Rotary Club of Deniliquin. Join us for dinner on the first or third Monday of the month at the Deniliquin RSL Club at 6.30pm, or contact us on 0401 321 630.
