Community groups, businesses and organisations with an idea for one of Deniliquin's riverside buildings are being encouraged to put their plans forward, with Edward River Council opening expressions of interest for the former Island Sanctuary Office Building.
Located at 169 Cressy St, on the corner of Sanctuary Lane, the building is being offered for occupancy through an expressions of interest process as council seeks proposals that will activate the site and deliver benefits to the local community and economy.
Council is inviting submissions from those interested in making sustainable use of the facility, which includes a small partitioned office space and associated amenities.
Potential uses could include office and administration functions, professional services, educational and training activities, arts and cultural programs, or community and not-for-profit initiatives.
Any successful proposal will need to be suitable for the building and align with council's broader strategic priorities.
Expressions of interest will be assessed on factors including community benefit, financial and operational sustainability, and an applicant's capacity to responsibly manage the facility.
Site inspections are available by appointment until October 23, with applications closing at 5pm on Wednesday, October 28.
Edward River Council expects to select a preferred applicant by late November, with occupancy subject to final agreements being completed.
