Wattle Day fun this Sunday

National Wattle Day celebrations will be hosted at the Blake Botanic Reserve this Sunday.

Running from 10am to 11.30am, activities will include nature journaling and a demonstration of the iNaturalist app.

Attendees are asked to bring a shared dish, their own art supplies and a chair. The ‘cuppa’ will be provided.

National Wattle Day was on September 1 - the first day of spring - but volunteers chose to delay celebration to avoid a clash with Father’s Day.

The reserve is a volunteer project which has beautified an area of native bush land around the Deniliquin Kolety Lagoons in west Deniliquin.

It is situated on the corner of Harfleur and Fowler St, and is now 41 years old.

It was originally a community project involving the Deniliquin Council, Southern Riverina Field Naturalists Club and nearby residents, and volunteers are now supported by the Deniliquin Kolety Lagoons Landcare group.
