The Cats look set to put the poor performances of previous seasons beyond them as they look to break into the Heathcote and District Netball League’s top five.
And new coach Karen Turner said all signs pointed to an upturn in form.
“Numbers at training have been fantastic throughout preseason,” she said.
“The attitude of everyone has made for a really smooth lead up. We’re just excited for everything to get started.”
While several familiar faces have returned to the club, the Cats bid to move up the ladder has been buoyed by the attraction of new recruits.
The list of new Cats includes Erin Florance, Georgina Crowe, Riley Kruger and Egglestone sisters Hannah and Maddie, who will also coach the club’s under-17 side.
“We’re really excited by what those girls will add to our club,” Turner said.
“They’ve definitely impressed during training and we can’t wait to see them playing during the home and away season.”
While the club’s most senior side has not reached the heights it would like, the Cats’ junior program has shown there is plenty to get excited about.
And the most obvious case of the talent on display came in last season’s under-15 premiership victory.
“The club was extremely proud of what our under-15s were able to achieve,” netball president Bec Crawford said.
“Some of those girls are now stepping up into the under-17 side which will be another good challenge for them.
“Hopefully in years to come we see them leading our senior grades to success.
“Last year B-grade and B-reserve also had strong seasons so we’re confident they’ll only improve again.
“The feeling around the club is a good one right now.”
