So much to do in Shepparton this weekend

With the opening of a splash park, a school fete, ballet, a twilight festival, Spring Car Nationals and paddling — there's plenty to do in Shepparton this weekend.

And with the weather predicted to reach 28°C today and tomorrow and 30°C on Sunday, it's an ideal time to get out and about.

Today

Opening of Merrigum Splash Park

What: The summer outdoor pool is opening at Merrigum pool.

When: 1.30 pm.

Where: Merrigum Pool, Morrissey St, Merrigum.

St Luke's Primary School Fete

What: Enjoy carnival rides including dodgems, as well as spinning wheels, dunk tank, lots of food and games.

When: 4 pm to 8 pm.

Where: St Luke's Primary School, Goulburn Valley Hwy, Shepparton.

Spring Car Nationals

What: Enjoy a weekend of non-stop action with other like-minded petrol heads.

When: Friday 6 pm to 9 pm, Saturday 9 am to 10 pm, Sunday 9 am to 7 pm.

Where: Shepparton Showgrounds, High St, Shepparton.

Cost: Weekend pass — adult $80/family (two adults and up to three children under 14) $160/child (10-14 inclusive) $30.

Goulburn Valley Academy of Ballet presents The Nutcracker & Other Dances

What: Don't miss the opportunity to see the students perform this classic.

Gemstone Extravaganza

What: There will be trade stalls, demonstrations and a tailgaters’ market. There will also be an auction of gemstones and materials Saturday evening with goods that have been donated from traders and tailgaters.

Where: Kialla Harness Racing Complex, Goulburn Valley Hwy, Shepparton.

Flats Walk and Bush Tucker

What: Join Uncle Rueben Baksh and others for a unique and memorable cultural walk on The Flats. Learn about significant events and hear personal stories of life growing up on the banks of the Goulburn River before enjoying a traditional-style lunch.

What: Live music, licensed bar and food. It's a perfect night out for the whole family.
