While the Blighty senior footballers and netballers are yet to get a win, the reserves and the under-14s footballers have had one win each so far - both in the season opener against Jerilderie.
However, there have been multiple games with losses under three goals in the football and netball across the grades.
Going a couple better, the reintroduced under-17s footballers and all junior netball grades have all had multiple wins from their four games so far.
After an agonising one point loss against Picola United last week, the Blighty senior footballers will be out to even the ledger in the coming games.
Senior coach Dane Leyden said he wants his team to remain hungry to win, despite the close loss last week.
“There’s probably positives we could take out from the game as a team, but it’s overruled by disappointment, as we feel like it’s one we should’ve gotten.
“I just want the boys to strive and continue chasing the winning feeling.”
Waaia were 2025 grand finalists and are ladder leaders this year, and coming off four wins in a row - including a 133 point win against Mathoura last weekend.
Leyden said he is looking forward to his side playing against a top of the ladder side, but knows they will have to bring their best on Saturday.
“It should be good to challenge ourselves against the best and see where we are at,” he said.
“We need to be ready to play our best football to stick with the top sides, and we will prepare to do so.”
Leyden’s main message to players this week is to keep to the game plan, even when things aren’t going well.
“I’d like us to fight hard all day and play a four-quarter performance of football.
“When it’s not going our way, we need to stick to what we’re trying to do and not go away from our structures.”
