Blighty took on Berrigan this week, but the scoreboard certainly didn’t reflect the effort, intensity, and determination shown by the girls.
It was a fantastic game to watch, with Blighty bringing great energy from the first whistle and never dropping their heads right through to the final siren.
A special mention to Ella Charlton, who stepped up from the juniors and played an outstanding game.
She showed confidence, positioning well and making the most of her opportunities in the ring.
It was even more exciting to see her combine with her sister Ashlea, with the Charlton girls working seamlessly together in the goal circle.
Their connection, movement, and accuracy made them a real threat and a highlight of the match.
Meagan Lowry was, as always, incredibly consistent throughout the game.
She worked tirelessly across the court, providing strong options and maintaining her intensity from start to finish.
Her reliability and effort never go unnoticed and continue to set a great standard for the team.
In defence, Monique Toppin put in a huge performance.
She attacked every contest with determination, applying pressure to her opponents and fighting hard for every ball.
Her work rate and commitment across the entire game were outstanding and played a key role in keeping the team competitive.
Across the court, all players contributed, showing clear improvement in their teamwork, communication, and ability to work together under pressure.
While the result didn’t go our way, this was a really positive performance, and the progress being made is clear for everyone to see.
The girls should be proud of their efforts, and we’re looking forward to seeing them continue to build on this in the coming weeks.

B-grade: Blighty 36 def by Berrigan 55.
The ladies stepped out today as a true team, delivering a fantastic performance against Berrigan.
Despite the heat, they showed great determination and never let up.
A big welcome to Carla Crossley, who made an impressive impact in defence.
Georgia Moody and Alex Barry worked brilliantly together, applying strong pressure and creating uncertainty for Berrigan’s goalers and feeders.
Our midcourt put in a tireless effort from start to finish, executing what we’ve been focusing on in training.
In attack, the girls worked hard to create scoring opportunities and maintained a positive mindset throughout the game.
Amy Gretgrix did an outstanding job applying feedback and skills from training, resulting in a fabulous performance.
It’s exciting to see what the coming weeks hold for our B-grade ladies.

C-grade: Blighty 27 def by Berrigan 45.
The C-grade girls hit the court with a positive mindset and a real willingness to work hard, and that effort showed right across the game.
In tough, hot conditions, it would have been easy to drop off, but the girls kept pushing and never gave up.
The defensive pressure from Blighty was relentless, forcing errors and creating opportunities.
While a few mistakes cost us at times, the overall effort and determination couldn’t be questioned.
It was a strong team performance built on grit and persistence. A great effort in warm conditions.

C-Reserve: Blighty 12 def by Berrigan 35.
It wasn’t just the temperature rising today, as Berrigan came out firing and maintaining that intensity right through the game.
Despite being a few players down with injury and illness, the Blighty girls showed resilience and pushed through to the final whistle.
There were some really strong passages of play and moments where the teamwork and determination shone through.
Unfortunately, a few too many turnovers proved costly and gave Berrigan the edge on the scoreboard.
The focus now shifts to tightening up our ball use and continuing to work hard as a team. That win is coming.

Under-17s: Blighty 41 def by Berrigan 48.
It was a tough day at Berrigan.
A slow start for our Redeyes, but we eventually found our feet.
Lily Petersen was instrumental in the goal ring, teaming with Kyah Watson forming a strong force.
Amy Doherty defended relentlessly and also assisted the ball down into attack.
The girls tried hard all day, but just couldn’t get the win. It was still a fabulous team effort by all.

Under-15s: Blighty 36 def Berrigan 12.
Blighty delivered an impressive performance in challenging, hot conditions, securing a dominant victory over Berrigan.
Blighty started slowly, but soon found momentum through relentless defensive pressure, and perseverance in the goal circle to convert opportunities.
Blighty showed versatility, using their depth to make multiple changes and maintain a high tempo across all four quarters.
The midcourt, led by Lexie Hines, worked tirelessly to create opportunities and link defence with attack.
Sophie Pearn proved she is not solely a defender, showcasing her strength in attack with a standout quarter at centre.
In the shooting circle, Ruby Birt combined well with Ella Charlton to open up space and allow greater movement, resulting in more scoring opportunities.
Blighty capitalised on these efforts with accurate finishing, steadily building their lead as the game progressed.
Leena Seely stepped into goalkeeper for the first time, applying intense pressure to shut down the shooters.
Consistent defensive efforts from Mila Bode and Lily Petersen forced turnovers and limited Berrigan’s scoring chances, with players reading the play well and contesting every pass.
To Berrigan’s credit, they continued to compete strongly despite the conditions, showing determination and resilience until the final whistle.
Overall, it was a well-rounded team performance from Blighty, with every player contributing to an excellent result in tough weather.

The under-13s had a fantastic win this week, with an amazing game.
The energy and vibe on and off the court were incredible, and it’s clear the girls are really starting to gel as a team.
Alice Petersen received the sportsmanship award this week for her constant encouragement and positive attitude towards her teammates, in a well-deserved effort.
Oaklee Morrison was very consistent throughout the game, delivering some great passes into Indi Bain and helped set up plenty of opportunities.
Indi Bain had a job to do and executed it perfectly, a fantastic performance that couldn’t be faulted.
Selma Van der Berg was outstanding in defence, applying strong pressure and using her height to her advantage all game.
A great team effort all round, with improvement and teamwork really shining through.

Under-11s (Minis): Not scored.
On Sunday, the minis went up against a Berrigan side with lots of numbers, so we played an extra long game to accommodate.
Each of the girls played with great enthusiasm and never complained, even though it was a longer game in the morning heat.
Jewel Winter showed great sportsmanship, helping her opponent and encouraging teammates with helping move the ball down the court.
Jasmin Davis was poised in both attack and defence, showing her versatility and knowledge of the game.
Olivia Butcher excelled in the goal ring by moving swiftly though the ring, shooting a fantastic goal.
All girls should be extremely proud of how they are progressing, well done.
