Charlotte Gatacre has reached the state championship representative selection level after performing well at trials last week.

Charlotte was one of four talented young players from the Deniliquin district who qualified for the Riverina trials in Griffith last Monday after regional trials at Hay.

In Griffith, the players played matches against students around the Riverina area from Albury, Wagga, Griffith, Hay, Deniliquin and all other areas in between.

Charlotte ultimately won all her matches against the other girls and was awarded with the number one seed in the PSSA team of five girls, which also has five seeded boys.

This Riverina PSSA team will now compete in the PSSA state championships in Bathurst for a week from May 6 to May 9 against the 12 other regions in the state.

Making the state championship team is a great accomplishment on Charlotte’s tennis journey, without continuous professional coaching, but she has had a great attitude and commitment to the junior Deni tennis program.

She is also following on from her brother James, who was also the number one seed for the Riverina PSSA boys team two years ago.
