Tongala are coming off the bye, having won two games against Nathalia and Moama but have lost to Numurkah and Echuca United.
Despite being one win ahead of Tongala with three wins and two losses, Rams senior coach John Fitzpatrick said the opposition will provide a good challenge.
He also said ball movement forward will be the key for his players this week.
“They (Tongala) are going to be a tougher one, similar to a lot of these sides around the mark.
“We’ve had some guys including Cable (Fitzpatrick) come in Pittsy (Liam Pitts) come in, Hamo (Riley Hamilton) come in, so there are a few blokes putting their hand up for selection and a bit of depth which is helpful.
“But Tonny - they’ve got some bigger bodies as well.
“Tonny’s ground is a bit shorter, so we’ll try to be getting it into our forward line a bit quicker and a bit deeper.
“That is our biggest focus for this week.”
The Rams had a 48-point loss to second on the ladder Numurkah last week, but Fitzpatrick thought the whole side played well.
“I thought our pressure was very good.
“Our forward line didn’t function as well as it could have, and the scoreline reflected that.
“I thought our backs and mids played really well, and Numurkah are a very good side.
“They have some bigger bodies and use the footy well.
“We went down by eight goals, but I wasn’t disappointed by the team’s performance.”
