Mathoura played Tocumwal last weekend with standout wins in the reserves football and under-17s netball.
The reserves won 8.11 (59) over the Bloods’ 4.6 (30) while the under-17s won over a similarly placed Tocumwal team 42 to 36.
It was also a significant weekend for the inaugural Harry McCormick Memorial Cup in the senior football.
While the senior footballers went down by 109 points, they showed better play in the second half, kicking two goals and four behinds in the third quarter to Tocumwal’s two goals and eight behinds.
Mathoura will be hoping to take some of that momentum into tomorrow’s fixture away against the Katamatite Tigers.
In the senior football, the Tigers are reigning premiers.
While they have dropped two games so far this season, they’re coming off a 219 point win against Rennie last week.
Meanwhile, in the A-grade netball, Katamatite have four wins and three losses so far this season.
But they are on a three game win streak, including last round over Rennie with a 52 to 38 win.
