And with the Picola League home and away season finishing last weekend, the Rams have extended free entry to Blighty, Mathoura and Deniliquin Rovers membership cardholders keen to see some great local footy and netball in action. Simply show your card at the gate.

The club is also hosting its Wimbledon Night - a table tennis tournament with a dress code of tennis whites - on Saturday.

Everyone is invited to attend, with the fun starting from 6.30pm.

In Saturday’s matches, the Rams will face a few challenging opponents.

They will be facing higher placed opposition in every grade except the fourths football and under-17s netball.

The club had a bye last weekend, and hosted its RUOK round at home against Tongala the week before.

In that round, the Rams thirds and fourths won by 56 points, and 145 points respectively.

Meanwhile, the Rams seniors continued facing finals bound opposition, going down against the fifth placed Blues by 65 points in their last outing.

Rams senior coach John Fitzpatrick said the Tongala side was a quality team.

“They’re a pretty good side and have a really good pack of forwards,” he said.

“They’ve also got Cam Illet and a couple of other really good players still out there.”

The Rams seniors will play the Lions this week, who are another top five side.

When the two teams last met at Mulwala in May, the home side won by 17 points after the Rams led by 22 at half-time.

The seniors will be aiming for another close contest but play a refreshed Mulwala side, Fitzpatrick said.

“It is going to be a challenge. We matched them earlier in the season when we played them over there.

“They’ve gained a few players since then.

“They’re high up on the ladder, and they’ve got (Sean) Robinson, who has a kicked a fair few goals this season.

“That’ll be another test and Harry Hillier will get that role.

“Harry has been getting a job each week on one of the opposition’s best forwards.

“Harry has been a running player for the club, but we’ve had to play him as a key position due to our lack of height.

“He has been doing a great job, but this will be another good challenge.

“We’ll continue trying a few different things, getting blokes to play a few different positions.

“Cable (Fitzpatrick) has gone forward, and Zac Free has gone back, which has also worked well.”

At home, the club are looking forward to a big weekend.

“The weather should be good, and hopefully, we get a bit of a crowd in, especially as our last home game of the season.”
