Allegra Smith (GD, GK): Allegra brings an abundance of energy and determination to the court each week. She has a strong understanding of the game, which is demonstrated through her ability to read the play and anticipate the movement of her opponent. She thrives on taking intercepts and has worked hard on her timing throughout the season to ensure she can secure clean possession. Her vertical leap is a standout asset when contesting rebounds, complemented by strong hands and a real determination to rip the ball in. Allegra also creates great depth on her angles, contributing strongly to the transition of the ball out of defence. Her energy, athleticism and ability to read the play make her an impressive presence in the defensive circle.
Lucie Mastaing (GS, WA): Every team has a quiet achiever, and for us, that player is Lucie. She is a dedicated and reliable player who puts in the extra effort away from the court to ensure her team can count on her shooting accuracy when it matters. Lucie’s attacking strengths include driving the baseline and offering a quick pop when her opponent is least expecting it. Throughout the year, she has worked hard on her forward movement towards the ball, learning to commit her defender and draw the contact. In Wing Attack, Lucie consistently provides a strong second phase option before working her way towards the circle edge. Her dedication, reliability and willingness to keep developing her game make her an important part of our attacking structure.
Matilda Eddy (GK, GD): This season marks Matilda’s introduction to netball, and she has quickly shown how her athletics background can be an asset on the court. Her natural speed and athletic ability allow her to chase down high-flying balls and compete strongly for possession. Throughout the season, Matilda has worked consistently on finding her feet and developing her understanding of the one-two landing movement, building greater confidence in her positioning and footwork. Her quick running feet allow her to tightly track her opponent, applying pressure and making it difficult for them to create passing opportunities. Matilda’s willingness to learn and develop her skills has been a highlight of her first season in netball.
Ruby Johnson (WD, WA): This is Ruby’s first season playing for Mathoura, and she has shown steady improvement throughout the year. She has developed a stronger understanding of defensive positioning and has worked hard to stay connected to her opponent, limiting their opportunity to receive a second-phase pass from the centre. In attack, Ruby creates space with well-timed leads and has focused on driving onto a 45-degree angle to provide a reliable passing option. Ruby’s commitment to learning and continued development demonstrate her willingness to contribute across both attack and defence.
Bella O’Callaghan (GA, GS): Transitioning from under-13s, Bella has adapted impressively to the faster pace and intensity of under-15s netball this season. She shows composure under pressure and plays with confidence in her own ability and style. Bella provides a strong presence on the centre pass, creating options before taking ownership of the goal circle. Once in the circle, her persistence and determination ensure she continues to work hard to finish each passage of play with a goal. Throughout the season, Bella has focused on strengthening her circle entry and developing her front-cutting drives, adding greater variety to her attacking game.
Kate Eddy (WD, WA): This is Kate’s first year playing netball, and she has quickly adapted to the competitive environment. She brings a fearless attitude to the court and is never afraid to contest every aspect of her opponent’s game. Kate’s defensive pressure can dictate her opponent’s options when leading for the ball, while her quick feet and natural ability to read the play allow her to cover the space created by an attacker’s lead. Throughout the season, Kate has steadily increased her knowledge and understanding of the rules while continuing to develop her foundational skills. Her determination, willingness to contest and eagerness to learn have seen her make great progress throughout her first season.
Isabella Atkinson (WA, C): Bella’s skill and ability can be deceptive to her opponents. Her calm and composed nature allow her to remain level-headed and make good decisions in the situations presented to her. She is an all-round player who can perform to a high standard in any position she is asked to play, whether that be shooting, through the midcourt or in defence. Bella is a dependable member of the team who consistently plays for those around her and contributes to the success of the group. One of her key strengths is the depth she creates on her attacking drives, allowing for an effortless transition of the ball down the court. Her versatility, composure and team first approach make her a valuable asset across the entire court.
