It was another nail-biting contest, with very little separating the two sides across the four quarters.
Numurkah held a slight lead at the first break, but a strong response in the second quarter saw us edge ahead by a narrow margin at halftime following the injection of fresh legs and some effective positional changes.
We had our moments and looked to be building momentum, however Numurkah came out firing in the third quarter and delivered a standout period to regain the lead.
From there, they were able to maintain their advantage through to the final whistle.
Despite creating opportunities, unforced errors proved costly at key moments throughout the match.
It was still a solid team effort, with players continuing to step up in different roles, but we just couldn’t quite do enough to get over the line in a tightly fought game.
Awards: Chloe Way, Ella Park and Elle Panton.
B-grade: Deni Rams 37 def Numurkah 35.
It was a nail-biting battle, with nothing separating the two teams for the entire match.
Numurkah held a slight lead at every break, with the exception of the final siren, when we managed to edge ahead by the smallest of margins to secure the win.
It was a full team effort, with several changes through the midcourt to keep fresh legs on the court.
A key move came in the second quarter when young gun Hannah McBurnie was shifted into defence, playing an important role in building the win.
Another pivotal moment was the introduction of Steph Birk in the second quarter, who combined seamlessly with fellow youngster Shontai O’Callaghan.
All three delivered impressive performances, but ultimately, it was a complete team effort that got us over the line in such a tightly contested game.
Awards: Hannah McBurnie, Shontai O’Callaghan and Steph Birk.
