Nineteen debutantes and their partners took to the dance floor at the Deniliquin RSL, where the Dunlop Room was packed with more than 310 family members, friends and special guests.
The debutantes and their partners were introduced to and received by Federal Senator Perin Davey.
Other official guests included Senator Davey’s husband John Dickie, RSL board representative Tony Whitehorn and his wife Shelly and Deniliquin High School Year 11 adviser Jess Grocott.
The debutantes and their partners trained two nights a week for the past seven weeks leading up to the ball.
Ball co-ordinator and dance trainer Peata Smith, who was assited by co-organisers and trainers Leanne Varty and Rachel Butcher, said the night was a huge success.
“All the debutantes and partners looked absolutely stunning on the night, and we could not have been prouder of how they all presented themselves.
“As the debutantes and their partners graced the dance floor with five dances throughout the evening, including the swing waltz, evening three-step and a special dance choreographed just for the debutantes - ‘The Mash-up’ - which seemed to be their favourite.
“The debutantes themselves had a huge say in the decision-making for their event, including choosing what type of suit the boys would wear, the colour theme for the deb ball and where profits raised from the night would be donated.”
Can Assist Deniliquin and the Deniliquin High School P&C will be the recipients of the funds raised.
“The organisers would like to say a big thank you to Pip Whykes, who donated his time to mix, cut and fine-tune the music for the ball, and photographer Maddie Charlton,” Mrs Smith said.
