The story behind the book was featured on the Sunday’s Melbourne Channel 7 news bulletin.
The book tells the story of a 63 year-old rundown fire truck that was used to help save homes in Ruffy in January.
It was illustrated by Mrs Murphy’s niece, Eliza Reis.
Copies are still available for $20 at the Peppin Heritage Centre in Deniliquin.
Weather woes
Deni barely made it into double figures over the weekend, with a high of 11°C on Saturday and 12°C on Sunday.
Overcast, cloudy conditions and wind getting up to 15 knots kept all except the footballers and netballers inside.
Monday didn’t feel much better, however temperatures are expected to get warmer leading into this weekend.
Art In Focus returns this Friday
The Edward River Art Society is welcoming the community back for the return of its Art In Focus exhibition, with a free opening this Friday from 5pm, featuring wine and nibbles.
The exhibition pairs photographs from the Deniliquin Camera Club and corresponding artworks created by Edward River Art Society members, offering a diverse mix of mediums and interpretations.
All works will be available for purchase. The opening will be held at the ERAS gallery in Cressy St.
Cricket stars in town
NSW captain Kurtis Patterson and Thunder all‑rounder Sienna Eve will host a free after‑school clinic at Memorial Park Oval tomorrow, giving local children the chance to meet elite players, learn new skills and take part in games and signings.
The clinic runs from 4pm to 6pm for children aged 5 to 12, and includes a Q&A session.
Attendance is free, but registration is essential, with capped numbers and no walk‑ins permitted.

Supporting the Deni High Towards 501 campaign, our first podcast guest was Deniliquin P&C president Vincent Kelly.
He chatted with general manager Nigel Lutton, while cadet journalist Eamon Kurta used what he learned during work experience with ABC Riverina - before arriving at the PT - to produce the 20 minute episode.
The ‘Towards 501’ campaign will run over at least six weeks. The second article, based on the history of the school, is on page 7 of today’s edition.
