Council to investigate rule changes for AI wearables

Locations where visitors have a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as aquatic centres, childcare centres, sporting facilities and change rooms, are particularly risky locations for use of the devices.

Over the past few months, local councils across Australia have banned the devices from pools and other council facilities, citing concerns for privacy and child safety.

The motion for the review was brought by Councillor Kieron Eddy at the October council meeting and passed unanimously.

Multiple councillors spoke to the motion and clarified that they wished to see a fair policy that was considerate of the benefits that the technology may provide for people with disabilities.
