Groves to notch up ton

Elle Groves will achieve a remarkable milestone this week, in what is already a remarkable A grade netball career with Kyabram, when she steps onto the court on Saturday for her 100th game.
She also has two premierships under her belt and is gunning for a third later this season.
And she is still only 20 years old.
In an inspired piece of recruiting, this 183cm shooter was plucked out of a weekly competition with Echuca District Netball Association in 2011 — as a 14-year-old.

Culinary champs
A young Kyabram cook has wowed judges with his classy cuisine, taking out the Murray River Culinary Challenge.
St Augustine’s student Nathan Angelino beat nine other competitors, who all turned out impressive dishes as part of the challenge.
The students all study VET hospitality at St Mary of the Angel’s Secondary College in Nathalia.
Teacher Neroli Eddy said the students had all applied themselves during the year and she was impressed by how much they had learnt.

Dulcie’s rewarded for 40 years of service
Dulcie Godbehere, 91, was rewarded for her many years of service to the Tatura Hospital Ladies Auxiliary at the group’s annual meeting last week.
Dulcie was presented with a plaque for 40 years of dedicated and loyal service to the Tatura hospital and nursing home.
Being married to a bank manager meant that Dulcie and husband Wilfred spent a short time in many different towns and Dulcie found the best way to become involved in a new community was to join the local hospital auxiliary.
She joined the Tatura auxiliary on August 21, 1956, during the year her husband passed away and is still an active member today.

Bulldog Boo Boo’s 400th
KDL legend Barry Taylor grins when he says he retired from playing football 11 years ago.
Tomorrow when he runs out for the Merrigum reserves against Yea it will be the 400th time he has done it for the Merrigum Football Club.
“I have been going to retire every year for the last 11 years.
“But they are usually short at the start of the season and I play to help out and then continue for the rest of the season,” he says with a grin.

Sally takes up residence at Fauna Park
Meet Sally, the newest addition to the Kyabram Fauna Park.
Sally is a 2-3 month old wombat being held in the photo by Wendy Major, daughter of the Fauna Park Manager, Gary Major.
Sally is at the moment on a milk diet though later she should eat grass and vegetables.
“Wombats do make good pets,” Gary Major said.

Hilda champ again
Winning Merrigum Golf Club associates championship is certainly nothing new for Hilda Tottenham.
Hilda, who had all the way 5 and 4 win over Dot Cooper in the final last Wednesday says she has won the title on about 10 previous occasions, although she is not certain.
The B grade championship went to Joan Patten 2 up in a thrilling match against Isabel Taylor.
Another close finish resulted in the C grade final with Bette downing Joyce Mortimer 2 up.
