Three landmark buildings in Deniliquin are set to receive upgrades after Edward River Council approved funding for heritage restoration projects.

The 2025-27 Local Heritage Fund supported projects will help preserve important pieces of the region's history while enhancing the character and appeal of Deniliquin's historic streetscapes.
The approved projects will share $20,000 in grant funding to support conservation works on buildings of local heritage significance.
Funding has been allocated to:
• Restoration of the façade, doors and windows at 133 End St, Deniliquin - $3,500
• Restoration and repair works to the verandah of the historic Helsby Building at 33-37 Napier St, Deniliquin - $9,500
• Restoration of the external façade and painting of the former Dublin Café at 30 Napier St, Deniliquin - $7,000
The Local Heritage Fund is jointly supported by Edward River Council and Heritage NSW through the NSW Government's Local Government Heritage Grants Program.

The fund assists property owners to undertake conservation works that protect and enhance buildings and places of local heritage significance.
Applications were assessed by council's heritage advisor against Heritage NSW eligibility criteria.
Mayor Ashley Hall said council was pleased to continue supporting projects that preserve the region's heritage while contributing to vibrant and attractive streetscapes.
“Our heritage buildings are an important part of the Edward River region's identity and tell the story of the generations who came before us," Mayor Hall said.
“These projects will help preserve significant buildings for the future while ensuring they continue to be valued and enjoyed by our community.
“It's fantastic to see local property owners investing in the restoration of these landmarks, and we are proud to support those efforts through the Local Heritage Fund.”
Council CEO Jack Bond said the program demonstrated the value of partnerships between local government, property owners and the NSW Government in achieving positive heritage outcomes.
“Council is keen to play a role in preserving the character and history of our towns, and programs such as the Local Heritage Fund provide practical support that enables this work to happen,” Mr Bond said.
Council received $25,000 through the NSW Government's 2025-27 Local Government Heritage Grants Program, with council contributing an additional $7,500 per year over the two-year funding period.
