Foggy mornings
Thick fog has blanketed Deniliquin to start the week, with travellers hitting a heavy wall of it just after Conargo and again near Blighty.
Visibility dropped sharply in patches, making the morning run a slow and careful one.
It’s a good reminder to keep your lights on, take it easy on the roads, and stay alert for roos moving through the fog.
The fog has also been thick through the town, and lingered a little longer than normal some days over the past week.
With pedestrians and Hardinge St roadworks and road workers to watch out for, it’s wise to shave a few kms off your speed whenever visibility is low.
Free cricket clinic
NSW cricket captain Kurtis Patterson and Thunder all‑rounder Sienna Eve will host a free after‑school clinic at the Deniliquin Stadium on Wednesday, July 29.
The clinic runs from 4pm to 6pm for children aged 5 to 12, and will include a Q&A session with the players.

Drone sightings
If you spot drones buzzing around the North Deni area over the next few weeks, don’t panic!
It’s all part of Edward River Council’s prep work for an upcoming levee upgrade.
Representatives and contractors will be out surveying the levee and nearby property boundaries, to map out exactly what needs doing.
Residents living close to the levee should keep an eye on the letterbox for a notice with all the details.
It’s all aimed at reducing flood risk and keeping homes and the wider community safe.

School’s back
School zones were back in force across NSW yesterday, as the new school term officially began with staff development days.
While many schools in the Deniliquin area are yet to welcome students back, with them using staff development days to start the term, motorists are reminded that 40km/h school zone limits still apply wherever signs indicate.
Drivers are urged to take extra care around school precincts, with enforcement now active for the term.
And, as we mentioned above, please take a little extra care during the foggy mornings.
It might be a little hard to see young people crossing the road or riding their bikes in such conditions.
