Stay informed: Flood warning for Yarrawonga to Barmah

NSW SES is advising people in Yarrawonga and Barmah to stay informed about possible minor flood level flooding along the Murray River.

River levels are expected to rise gradually over the coming days and may inundate low-lying areas adjacent to the river.

However, rises are forecast to remain below the minor flood level.

Campsites, sections of parkland, and areas close to the riverbank are likely to be affected and campers are encouraged to move to higher ground or safer locations.

Floodwater may impact access tracks, making them impassable to all vehicle types, and access to some campsites and recreational areas may become restricted.

What you need to do:

People working or camping along the river should monitor river heights and be prepared to relocate to higher ground.
Consider possible road and bridge closures and water over roads and make alternate arrangements for work, children and travel.
Obey all signs about road closures and instructions from emergency services.
If there is a flooded road, turn around, find a safer way, or wait until floods ease and avoid storm drains and pipes, ditches, ravines, creeks, and rivers.
Share this information with family, friends, and neighbours and help others prepare where possible.
If you have a Home or Business Emergency Plan, follow it. Otherwise, have a conversation and plan for what you will do and take with you if you need to evacuate.
People in areas likely to be impacted by flooding should raise their assets, including waste and chemical containers above expected flood heights.
