In good weather for cricket at Tocumwal, Brodie Unwin’s call of heads won the toss and the away team were bowling first in round two of the season.
Opening the bowling Brodie and Prem Muppidi kept scoring to a minimum.
Good energy in the field and the Tocumwal batters lack of scoring had the Rhinos on top.
After the first ten overs the score was 0/8 with six maidens being bowled.
The first change of bowlers Senaka Lakmal and Archie Beehag continued the Rhinos momentum.
Beehag was the first bowler to strike in the 12th over, getting opener Brandon Meloury caught by safely by wicket-keeper Jonty Tubb for four.
It was then a classic catch that produced Beehag's second wicket at the start of the 16th over.
Batter Archer Chellew edged a full blown cover drive, with the ball rising above first slip Lachlan Marshall.
Marshall managed to get hands to the ball, which parried to about third slip where Chris Pyle from gully managed to dive and land the catch flush in his outstretched left hand.
Lakmal was deservedly the next wicket taker with accuracy, bowling Shaun Goldman out.
In the 20th over, a bowling change to Brendan Unwin's leg spin brought about a wicket on the last ball before drinks.
He had the ball turning as Dale Chandler skied a cover drive caught by Rowan Frazer at cover.
At the halfway point of their innings, Tocumwal were 4/30.
The Rhinos continued to stifle the Tocumwal batters after drinks.
In the 29th over, Jobe Unwin brought a wicket in his first over getting opener Hayden White caught behind by Tubb.
Another bowling change in the 32nd over saw George Marshall take his first Rhinos senior wicket.
With his flight and off spin getting James Winn stumped by Tubb.
From there, batters Adam Hughes and Daniel Burn added a bit of rearguard action to the last ten overs of the Tocumwal innings.
Hughes scored 22 not out while Burn made 15 not out, as Tocumwal finished on a score of 6/95 from 40 overs.
In reply, Rhinos openers Brendan Unwin and Jonty Tubb looked convincing from the outset of the chase.
The pair ran well between the wickets, rotating strike with Tubb leading the way before Brendan overtook him with several boundaries in the 15th over.
The chase was complete in the 17th over as Brendan hit a pair twos to reach his half century.
He finished on 50 not out off 49 balls and Tubb finished 35 not out from 51 balls to see the Rhinos B-grade side achieve a 10 wicket win.
