The courts are playing very well for this early in the spring, which has resulted from the continuing showers over the second half of winter and not much irrigation to date.
That will change as weed spraying has been completed, and fertilisers will be spread over the next week.
The ball bounce on the lawn has been above the waist, which is unusual for this early after winter.
Mitre 10 recorded a strong win over Legal Eagles - 20 sets 139 games to eight sets 102 games.
The Eagles lost the first round and the third round, but had a red hot go in the middle set when they won five of the 11 sets.
Three set winners were spread among the ladies and men for Mitre 10 - Hayley Denny, Hilary Porter and Ruby Hicks from the women’s teams and Haydn McKay, Hugo McGrillen and Dom Morona from the men’s.
It was a particularly special return to the courts after a seemingly long absence for Dom.
He was off to a strong performance winning 3 sets and 18 games to Hamish Catt’s six games.
Haydn McKay and George Kenney-Herbert had a ding-dong battle over three sets.
Haydn eventually won thee sets 18 games, while George won 12 games including losing two tie-breaks.
Bede Orr has also returned to the courts after a break and is very welcome.
Peppin Planners played off against Deni Newsagency, with Newsagency winning 16 sets 136 games to Peppin 12 sets 125 games.
Once again, Peppin got off to a slow start in the first round when they only won three sets.
There were five sets decided by the dreaded tie-break, with three being won by Newsagency, so the whole match was quite close.
Not many players could claim they won their three sets, but John Henderson and Harley Moore can for Newsagency while Triin Soro did more than her fair share for the losing team by winning three sets.
