In Division 3, on centre stage, Neil Buckley was welcomed back to the club after a long break from the game.
He played second to Brian Clancy, playing his first game for the season, Garry Hulm, and Peter Thommers (s), who also played his first game for the season.
They had a tight start and put three on the board to Elmore's four by the fifth end.
The pressure continued, and both sides only managed singles over the next five ends, and it was six all after 10 ends played.
Elmore got the upper hand and added six shots to the Diggers’ one and Elmore had the lead again, at 7-12 with six ends remaining.
The Diggers rallied to add six more to the board, but it was not enough as Elmore added five and took the win.
The final score was 13-17.
Archie Webster, Mason Glenn, Craig Taylor and Rod Reid (s) found themselves in a tight game to start, also with their score at 6-4 after five ends.
Adding five shots to Elmore's one scoring end of two saw a shift and the Diggers were up 11-6 after 10 ends.
Elmore hung on, only allowing the Diggers three singles but while only adding two singles themselves.
The card read 14-8 going into the 16th end, and the Diggers dug deep and picked up a trio of threes, a two and a single to Elmore's mere one shot.
This brought the final score to 26-9. A brilliant run home for this Diggers rink.
The final Div 3 rink consisted of Jake Glenn, John Wilson, Callan Glenn and skipper Niels Hilton.
Saturday was a different day for the ‘Comeback Kings’ as they got the jump on the opposition and scored 10 shots to two by the fifth end.
Only allowing Elmore to add three shots by the 10th end, the Diggers found themselves in unfamiliar territory.
They did not have to fight back, but rather just add to their lead.
They added nine more shots to bring the card to 19-5.
Not slowing down, they denied Elmore a scoring end until a single on the 17th.
Meanwhile, they amassed an incredible 18 shots, which brought the score to 33-6.
Elmore did not have any answers but rather just matched the Diggers’ next five shots, and the final score was 38-10.
The win, with an overall score of 77-36 and two winning rinks, gave the Diggers 14 points.
It brings their ladder tally to 26 points, putting them in 6th position.
Division 5 had a mixed bag with a win and a loss, but the overall score gave the Diggers the win on the day against Rochester.
Ian McKenzie led for Adam Harding, Danny Stanmore and Gaye Goodwin, and was named best on rink by the opposing skipper after a stellar performance on the greens. Harding was a close second.
Skipper Goodwin stated she didn’t have much to do.
They had a magnificent win with their final score of 30-14.
Meanwhile on rink three, after some late changes, Graham Gordon, Chris Frampton, Ron Marchetti and Neville Austin (s) had a battle and finished polar opposites to their teammates.
Going down 14-26, the overall score was 44-40 and places them second on the ladder with 40 points - just three behind the ladder leaders.
