Teams were sorted into a mix of the two sides and a great time was had by all in the lovely winter sunshine.
In a game where no scores were kept, the banter amongst the youngsters suggested that it was a close match.
Some excellent work out of the centre from Spencer Cowley for the Rovers helped the small forwards capitalise on some goal scoring opportunities.
At the other end of the field for the Auskicker side, Zac Joss showed he was hungry for the ball and defenders Darcy Nilsson and Ari Strongman played their part and Andrew Smith was strong in the midfield.
The Auskick committee would like to thank the Rovers for hosting their young footballers, and also thank Matt Horne for umpiring.
Deni’s Auskick committee members were again rejoicing another sunny Sunday morning - the third in a row to start the season - as about 80 young footballers took to the Hardinge St oval to develop their skills and have some fun.
The committee had made the decision to go with Sunday competition, as opposed to Friday evenings, and the decision is proving a good one thanks to the fine weather.
The high number of parent helpers turning out has also been encouraging and appreciated.
In the 9 and over age group - coached by Leigh Strongman - this week’s award winners were Ava Marshall, James Gatacre and Logan Andrews.
In the 7/8 year-old group - coached by Rob Wettenhall - the stars of the day were Aadi Patel, Monique Crothers and Oliver Dellwo, who all received an award.
And in the youngest age group - the 5/6 year-olds coached by Sam Hall - the McDonald’s Deniliquin vouchers went to Asher Parsons, Levi Robson and Lincoln Arthur for all showing fine skills and good sportsmanship.
This week the Deni Rams footballers assisted the coaches, with Jack Tyndall, Clay Howe and Will Shaw giving their time.
The Auskick committee would like to thank the Rams players for their contribution, and also recognise the Auskick families for complying with the COVID compliance restrictions that are in place.
