The Blighty Redeyes hosted Strathmerton and were able to match them on the scoreboard for most of the game.

A stretch in the third quarter proved to be the difference, and unfortunately not in Blighty’s favour.
We rallied in the last and again fought back, but it was too late.
The effort and tackling pressure kept us competitive, and we aim to make that the staple of our game.
Jack Charlton was dominant, Xander Strong stepped up and Darcy Cullenward was good in his return.
We are hoping to refresh with the bye, and get a few players back.
Final score: Blighty 8.8 (56) def by Strathmerton 12.4 (76).
Reserves
We knew we needed to start well after a couple of slow starts in previous weeks.
Unfortunately, it was a repeat before warming into the second half.
There have been more positive signs, and the group knows the improvement areas to rectify over the break to get better clearance work from the use of Nash Suckling’s great ruck work.
Shannon Bond and co down back were strong once again, and Jack Sander and Nick Taylor had strong games around the ground.
Alex O’Brien provided a strong target up forward through the second half.
It was great to see the younger brigade of thirds boys lining up for a go with the group, especially Sam Conallin. They were not out of place at all, with more involvement and a touch more at home.
Final score: Blighty 4.0 (24) def by Strathy 12.13 (85).
Thirds
The young thirds had a few away this week due to illness, so some fourths had to step up again and give us a hand.
It is awesome to see them keen to come up and test themselves out in an older grade.
We were winning the ball a fair bit around the ground, but when we entered our 50 we just could not convert to a score.
We battled hard and fought the game out to the end, but Strathmerton were just far too good for us.
Better players for the day were William Frost, Mark Godfrey, Ash Heinz, Jake Harvey, Nick Rosbiffi and Henry Learmonth, who received the Good Sport award.
Final score: Blighty 0.0 (0) def by Strathy 21.12 (138).
Fourths
The Blighty fourths came up against a very evenly matched Strathmerton team.
This was the tightest game we have played for the season.
Daniel Burn and the rest of the team were digging deep in the last quarter to help Blighty come away with the win.
Kayden Leech and Ben Macdonald both had great games.
Best on went to Daniel Burn for a consistent game and running all day.
Andrew Frost, who knew everyone had to lift and was leading by example, also received an award.
Degan Morgan had another strong game and Liam Gordon is becoming more exciting to watch each week.
Harlem Morgan and Charlie Tremble put pressure on the opposition, Ollie Bull helped the team out with his skill and Jordyn Brain helped bring the team come together.
The Good Sports award went to Maddy Hunter, who always plays and trains with a positive attitude.
Final score: Blighty 5.4 (34) def Strathmerton 3.9 (27).
Fifths
We had a good week on the track this week, and set ourselves some goals.
The aim was to have a good first quarter, stick our tackles on the opposition and to keep encouraging each other.
The first quarter went exactly as planned, working together as a team moving the ball from defence into attack.
After that, we shuffled players into new positions - which is important for their development.
It was a great little contest, with Strathmerton a little bit better on the day.
Final score: Not scored.
Awards: Olivia, Gideon, Victor, Amber, Felix, Franklin, Nash, Bill and Ari.
