Deniliquin endured a tough afternoon at Moama Recreation Reserve, overrun by a Magpies outfit that controlled the contest from early in the first term and went on to hand the Rams a 70‑point defeat.

Deni opened the scoring with the game’s first goal, but from there Moama seized momentum, piling on the next five majors in a nine‑minute burst that flipped the match on its head.
The Rams trailed by 20 points at quarter‑time after conceding six goals to three.
The second term offered little reprieve. While Deni worked hard to stay in the contest, Moama added three more goals to stretch the margin to 29 points at the main break, with the Rams unable to generate enough forward pressure to match the home side’s scoring.
The third quarter proved decisive. Deniliquin was held goalless while Moama added another four majors, pushing the margin beyond 50 points and effectively ending the match as a contest.
The Rams’ defensive unit battled to contain repeat entries, but the weight of possession told.
Deni managed just one goal after quarter‑time, finishing with 5.6 (36) to Moama’s 16.10 (106).
The Rams’ inability to convert forward opportunities and maintain scoreboard pressure across the middle quarters left them chasing the game for much of the afternoon.
While the result was disappointing, the Rams will look to regroup quickly, address lapses in contested play and transition, and refocus ahead of next week’s fixture.
