After a cagey opening 15 minutes, the Border Raiders found the back of the net for fun in the remaining minutes of the first half, sending through seven before the break.
Jessica Pemberton performed a feat not often matched, slotting five straight past the keeper in a 19-minute period during the Border Raiders’ rampage.
Things calmed down somewhat in the second half, but Echuca-Moama still struck three more times before La Trobe found a late consolation goal, resulting in a final score of 10-1.
Maya Cox added three goals to Pemberton’s five, while Diane Forsyth and Isabella Barton book ended the performance with the first and last goals, respectively.
The Border Raiders have now slotted 19 goals in three games, to only one against, and sit easily atop the table on goal difference.
After voluntarily moving back to League 2 after the loss of several key players, the new group has come together quickly and looks to be the early title favourite.
A more challenging test awaits this Sunday, with Echuca-Moama returning to home action against Swan Hill (2-1)
Men
The men’s side faced a stiff challenge in League 2 against the current ladder leader, Swan Hill, away at Ken Harrison Reserve.
However, 10 minutes in, it was the visitor which struck first, Samuel Wanesiofa giving the Border Raiders the lead.
Swan Hill would counter through a quality Liam Baldwin stretch, as he slotted two in eight minutes to put his side back on top.
The Border Raiders restored parity through Jean-Claude Herman on the half hour, but goals from Tom Clarke and Mustafa Aslam gave Swan Hill a 4-2 lead at the break.
The host continued the momentum straight out of the sheds, Cooper Fox on the scoresheet within a minute of the resumption.
The scoring would end there in a comparatively tame second period around the goalmouths, Swan Hill walking away with the victory 5-2.
The Border Raiders will take some consolation in the fact they were down several first-team regulars for the game and lost captain Suresh Gomez early in the game through injury.
Echuca Moama has returned a mixed bag of results, logging a win, a draw and a loss through its first three matches, good for fourth on the eight-team table.
The side returns to Jack Eddy Oval in Moama for its next game, battling Golden City (1-1-2) on Saturday.
