Thursday was a very eventful day at Deni RSL Bowls with social bowls, the President’s Handicap final, a fundraiser for CanAssist, and the club’s AGM all taking place.

A dozen of the Diggers’ bowlers took to the greens in the sunshine, playing two shorter social games.
Winners were Lyn Hardcastle, John Wilson and Niels Hilton with 18 shots.
The final of the Club Championship President’s Handicap was being played at the same time, between Rod Reid and Craig Taylor.
Reid had a battle against the current Club Champion, and Taylor demonstrated just why he is the champion with a solid win.
The crowd grew, and the fun moved indoors for a sausage sizzle and to raise money to add to the Diggers’ collection for the local branch of CanAssist.
in honour of the President’s Handicap final, club president Niels Hilton agreed to have his locks shorn by the team’s youngest bowling member, Mason Glenn.
With cheers and banter from fellow Diggers, Mason tentatively clippered away and finally showed he’s not just a great bowler!
The club’s AGM followed, reflecting on a profitable year, a fantastic pennant season and plenty of positivity for the year ahead.
