Taking to the court for the Inter-Academy Tournament, the youngsters demonstrated their potential as future household names at the State Netball Centre in Parkville, Melbourne on August 9.
After taking part in the program at the academy, participants were given the opportunity to demonstrate and apply skills learned over previous six months.
Since March, the prospects took part in various training and education sessions at locations including Shepparton, Wangaratta and Wodonga, culminating in the Inter-Academy Tournament.
Forming part of the Netball Victoria athlete pathway, the competition represented a platform for 17 & Under Victorian state selectors to take a look at potential squad picks for the future.
Mooroopna extended a congratulatory message to Cats youngsters Tiarna DeAngelis, Layla Ratcliffe, Jorja Sprunt, Sophie McDonald and Ada Kennedy, who attended the sessions down in Melbourne.
“We are so proud of these girls,” a representative wrote.
“They played some fantastic netball, competed hard, supported one another and represented their teams with immense pride.
“They should all be incredibly proud of what they achieved! Make sure we look out for these girls on the court coming into our finals series, the future is bright at Mooroopna!”
Meanwhile, the Shepparton Swans also praised those who took part in the Talent Academy sessions.
“A huge well done to Sharna (Sibio), Maya (Pearson) and Emmi (Lewis), who represented the Netball Victoria Talent Academy at the Inter Academy Tournament in Melbourne,” they wrote.
“Well done girls, we’re so proud of you!”
Following on from this, Shepparton’s Frankie Ewert was announced in the Victorian U17 State Squad for 2027, as the Bears and the GVL expressed their pride at the news of her inclusion.
“Congratulations Frankie Ewert! This superstar has been selected in the Victorian U17 State Squad for 2027,” a Bears representative wrote.
“Frankie, along with the other athletes listed, has been recognised for her exceptional talent and potential.
“The Bears can’t wait to see her continued growth throughout this program and beyond. Congratulations Frankie, we are so proud of you!”
Meanwhile the GVL congratulated the youngster, as well as her club and its wider youth program following Ewert’s selection.
“A fantastic individual reward for one of our rising stars. Also terrific recognition for Shepparton Football Netball Club and its netball program,” they wrote.
“And a little reminder of the wonderful talent we have in the Goulburn Valley League netball ranks. Well done Frankie.”
