The seniors Rovers outfit battled well in the Picola District Football League round-eight contest, but was outclassed by a side that appears certain to be major players come finals time.
The Rovers struggled to kick goals with the absence of leading goal-kicker Nick Sheldon (hamstring soreness) and relied on Scott Howard who booted two majors.
Ball use by Waaia was elite and made the job of their key forwards much easier with Connor Brown kicking seven goals for the Bombers.
Better players were Jim Falcone who starred in his on-ball role and Raymond Murphy was another to play well showing great pace and endeavour.
Coach Alex Hay won plenty of possessions, while Brendan Hope defended well despite the number of opportunities given to the Waaia forward line.
Scott Howard up forward and Liam Headon on the wing were other good players.
The senior Rovers have next weekend off as Yarroweyah do not have a senior side, so they will be hoping to regain some of their extensive injury list before hosting Rennie the following week.
Best on: James Falcone, Raymond Murphy, Alexander Hay, Brendan Hope, Scott Howard and Liam Headon.
Final score: Rovers 5.5 (35) to Waaia 21.13 (139).
The Rovers seconds outfit were keen to test themselves against top four side Waaia at the weekend, but ultimately didn't have what it took to get a win on the day.
The teams were fairly evenly matched in the first quarter, however Waaia were able to kick a couple of goals, giving them a small lead at the first break.
Waaia took control of the second quarter kicking another three goals and restricting Deni to one.
Dom Reid went to Waaia's wingman who had a heap of the ball early and completely shut him down in the second half.
Rovers battled hard only conceding one goal in the third quarter, playing out a pretty even final quarter.
Waaia's backline was too tough restricting the Rovers to only three goals, two points for the day.
Damien Hope was named best on after a big game in the middle, along with Terry Lumbar and Boddie Arthur.
The young Rovers are getting better every week and it was great to see Dom Reid, Maliki Lake and Jay McCully amongst the best as well.
Best on: Damian Hope, Dominic Read, Terry Lumbar, Jay McCully, Boddie Arthur and Malaki Lake.
Final score: Rovers 3.2 (20) to Waaia 8.7 (55).
