The Southern Riverina region is renowned for its beautiful golf courses and relaxing bowling greens, and this winter Jerilderie’s will come alive with a special fundraiser.
On Sunday, June 28, Jerilderie Sports Club will host a fantastic day of sport, fundraising and community spirit at the Ian Sneddon MND Charity Day.

The event brings people together in support of the fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and in honour of Jerilderie’s own Ian Sneddon.
Known as ‘Sneds’, Ian was a much-loved member of the local community, a former Mayor of Jerilderie and the founder of the Two River Tractor Run. After he passed away from Motor Neurone Disease in 2019, his mates continued spreading awareness in his name, raising tens of thousands of dollars for MND research.
Inspired by Australia’s Big Freeze campaign, the event will be fun-filled, with something for everyone.
The highlight of the day will be the 18-hole Ambrose golf competition, giving golfers of all skill levels the chance to enjoy a social round while supporting an important cause. For those not hitting the fairways, there will also be lawn bowls for all ages.
Running from 10am to 6pm, it is the perfect day for families, friends and community groups wanting to get involved together. There will be a barbecue, cold drinks, raffles and other fundraising activities throughout the day, creating the welcoming country spirit Jerilderie is known for.
Raffle tickets are available at the Jerilderie Newsagency or on the day, and are $2 each or three for $5. Prizes include a $500 Noonans Showcase Jewellers voucher, a Yeti Roadie 24 Hard Cooler valued at $350, and a Yeti Pack valued at $200.
All proceeds will go to MND Victoria, supporting families facing the impacts of the disease.
Whether you are teeing off in the golf competition, enjoying a bowl with the family, grabbing a bite from the barbecue or trying your luck in the raffles, it promises to be a memorable day for a very important cause.
