That is the prediction from rodeo stock contractor Garry McPhee after Fels drew his bull Mr Fabulous in the Deniliquin Easter Rodeo’s most coveted competition.
Mr Fabulous holds an Australian record score after his performance at Merrijig.
His score of 93 saw him best the previous record by just one point.
As his breeder, McPhee said Mr Fabulous always puts on a good show, and that Deniliquin would be no different.
“Fels would know that if he rides him well, he’s likely to win at Deni,” McPhee said.
“Most cowboys like to draw him because he is a very nice bull, but you still wouldn’t stand in his way.
“He’s not our biggest bull but he is up there with the best of them, but he will be the biggest we bring to Deni.
“I bred him myself eight years ago, and he’s been in rodeos since he was about two and a half.”
Mr Fabulous weighs in at about 800kg.
He is a Brahman cross with horns, and is silver with black markings.
While all eyes will be on Fels in the open bull ride, Deniliquin Rodeo committee member Alan Calderwood said giving him a run for his money with be Cameron Southern and Toby Collins.
Collins is just back from a rodeo circuit in the United States of America.
The son of Pat Collins who has competed at Deniliquin over many years, he has drawn Nightwatch in the bull ride and Jane in the saddle bronc.
Southern won the bull ride at last year’s Deniliquin Rodeo and recently claimed the win at Warwick in Queensland.
He has drawn R.U.Serious in the bull ride and Rose in the saddle bronc.
Adding to the intrigue of the weekend will be two female competitors in the traditionally male competition of steer wrestling, with Sharon McGuire and Melanie Drysdale entered.
And in the team roping, 80 year-old rodeo veteran Bob Holder is sure to be a crowd favourite.
Calderwood said there’s also a throng of local and regional competitors to watch out for this weekend.
He said while some will only compete in the day time events, others will feature in the twilight action.
Local competitors, by competition, are as follows:
