The updates have come as a result of environmental impact statement feedback on the NSW section of the Victoria to NSW Interconnector West (VNI West) project, being delivered by Transgrid.
VNI West program director Daniel Banovic said lodgement of the amendment report and submissions report with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure follows three years of engagement and consultation.
Key changes include delivering the project in two stages, starting with the extension of Transgrid’s 500 kV network through to the Dinawan substation near Jerilderie and the South West Renewable Energy Zone.
The second stage of the project comprises construction of the new transmission line from Dinawan to the Victorian border, which will be aligned with the delivery timing for the Victorian section of VNI West.
The proposal also includes updates to construction traffic routes and proposed improvements to selected roads and intersections, and further refinements to the location of transmission structures, access tracks and temporary construction facilities.
Transgrid will be joined by EnergyCo at meetings held in our region next week, who will also take questions about REZ renewable energy projects and the associated Community and Employment Benefits Program.
